The original idea for Sephina began in the early years of 2000’s as Disney had princesses from every hair color, culture, and skin-tone, except for one of a Nubian origin.   Sometime in late 2008 – early 2009 things began formulating towards a single, 32-page, color-illustrated children’s book in a Disney-like format. However, late 2009, Disney retells an original Grimm’s Fairytale to finally released their version of  a “Black or African-American” Princess, dashing the hopes of Sephina filling that role. However, Sephina had already been conceived and wanted to be birthed.  The idea of a single, 32-page, color-illustrated children’s book morphed into nine individual, color-illustrated children’s books, creating a series. However, due to the cost of publishing them singly and with an added expense for colored illustrations, the series was combined into one book, with black and white sketches, targeting the tweens and teens age groups instead. It took nine years to finally complete, publish, and release. Hence, the single-volume book was birthed and named “The Sephina Series”.
